Vinoteca, a discreet gray building with red trim at 11th and U Streets NW, waits for wine lovers to sample an extensive wine list alongside a hearty, seasonally rotating menu. This charming spot serves up brunch Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to hungry locals in search of bottomless mimosas and steak and eggs poutine. Other guest favorites include an exquisite charcuterie tray and a savory duck confit benedict.
An inviting front patio makes Vinoteca the perfect spot to watch passersby while sampling the ultimate wine list, while the stucco-walled beer garden’s fountain provides a great ambiance, with the added bonus of a bocce ball court. For the true wine devotee, Vinoteca revs back up Winter Wine Classes starting in January. Wine director Kate Chrisman takes students around the world with her wine lineup, perfectly paired with a variety of bites designed to enhance aromas and flavors. Spaces are limited, so wine students are encouraged to reserve their seat in advance.
