Kids Can Learn About Self-Expression at Explore! With the National Portrait Gallery Opening January 28th

In collaboration with Explore! Children’s Museum of Washington, DC, Explore! With the National Portrait Gallery is opening January 28th and will be the museum’s first-ever space dedicated to children. Kids will be able to experiment with the idea of portraiture, learning about how they see themselves in the world and how others may see them in return. The exhibition will include many interactive activities, such as tracing each other’s silhouettes, posing in a projected video art piece, and experimenting with expression and emotion with illustrated blocks.

Explore! With the National Portrait Gallery is for children ages 18 months to 8 years old accompanied by an adult. It will run Tuesdays through Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will be located on the first floor of the gallery. The exhibition is a great learning experience for children in a fun environment, encouraging them to ask age-appropriate questions about their self-identity.
