Celebrate the Holidays at the Zoo With ZooLights

See the Smithsonian’s National Zoo completely transformed with over 500,000 lights at ZooLights. This event is free, and open to the public through January 1st from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. every evening.

Kids will love the glow-in-the-dark play zone, the Speedway Foundation Conservation Carousel, and rides on the Smithsonian’s National Zoo Choo-Choo. Or, try snow-less tubing with trips down 150-foot-long tracks… no snow required. If you head over to ZooLights from December 15th through December 17th, you can stroll through the outdoor GRUMP holiday market for last minute gifts of handmade jewelry, home décor, and more. There will also be live music and tasty treats sure to get you in the holiday spirit.

December 19th is military night, and military families will receive discounts on concessions, parking, and gift shop items. Go to nationalzoo.si.edu for more information on ZooLights, and a list of ongoing events and performances. Complimentary shuttle rides to the zoo are available from the Woodley Park Metro Station every 20 minutes.
