The owners of Solid State Books have managed to make a sparse warehouse-style space look magical. They covered the stark concrete floors with a hodgepodge of mismatched rugs. They hanged twinkling lights from the exposed ceiling. And, of course, they lined the cinder-block walls with shelves and shelves of both classic and contemporary books.
What’s more, the locally owned bookstore plays host to a coffee bar—and the entire space is open late every night (10 p.m. daily, except for Fridays and Saturdays, when it says open until midnight). So it’s never too late to come and browse the selection of literature and grab a cup of coffee with a friend. The shop also hosts special events, like author readings and children’s story time, so check the schedule to see what’s coming up at Solid State Books.
