You’re a DC local! There’s no better place in the US to celebrate the Fourth of July than right here. Fireworks start at nightfall, right around 9 p.m. Get to your viewing location early and get ready for a show!
The National Mall. It’s an obvious choice, and for good reason. Anywhere on the Mall will be popular, and also a great vantage point.
The Potomac. Book a cruise, or cross the river to the Marine Corps War Memorial. The statues make a touching backdrop to the fireworks overhead. You can also head to the Hains Point Peninsula for a unique view.
Memorials and monuments. The US Air Force Memorial, Lady Bird Johnson Park, and US Supreme Court Plaza all boast unobstructed views.
Mount Vernon Trail. Rent a bike and make your way up the trail to find your own secluded spot.
Dinner and a show. Watch from local restaurants like Sequoia in Georgetown or from a rooftop bar like the Sky Bar at the Beacon Hotel.
Off the beaten path. Cardoza High School has views of the entire District, or get to higher ground at the Washington National Cathedral.
