The 18th Annual Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger is one of DC’s largest charity races, dedicated to raising money for our most vulnerable and needy neighbors in the District. This family-friendly event, which starts and ends at Freedom Plaza on November 28, includes a "little turkey" kids’ run, a timed 5k race, and an untimed fun run. The beautiful 5k course winds down Pennsylvania Avenue, hairpins on Independence Ave, wraps around Third and D, and sweeps through Garfield and Peace Circles before charging back to Freedom Plaza. Best of all, the race will help you work up an appetite for your Thanksgiving meal later in the day.
Last year more than 8,000 people attended the event, and this year’s race day promises to be even bigger and better. Check out the website to register for the race, sign up to volunteer, or to donate to the cause.
