This Valentine’s Day more than ever, let’s try to support locally owned businesses. Thankfully, there are so many sweet little shops here in D.C. that serve up incredible chocolates and gifts. One place you must try is Arcay Chocolates in the newly opened La Cosecha marketplace on 4th Street NE.
This vibrant Latin American marketplace aims to celebrate the culture, arts, and cuisine of Latin America, which makes it the perfect spot for Venezuelan Master Chocolatier and Arcay Chocolate owner, Anabella Arcay. Anabella came to the U.S. just over three years ago and operates this internationally-acclaimed chocolate shop with her family. They’ve won over 40 awards, including Gold and Silver status from the International Chocolate Awards, for their single-origin chocolates, each handcrafted with care and only the best ingredients. You won’t find a preservative in sight!
They specialize in truffles, chocolate bars, chocolate covered pretzels and dried fruit, and other fun chocolatey finds. Rumor on the street is they make a mean hot chocolate, so make sure you grab one to-go after purchasing all the chocolates for your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day!
